The protection of environment and bio-diversity, local knowledge and a balanced approach to the concept of development form the kernel of the Festival. This is an exceptionally distinct effort to bring home a wide variety of folk practices, arts, and relentless struggles of survival of folk communities in cinema. In the international Folk Film Festival of Thrissur a significant number of folk-related films and documentaries will be exhibited. In connection with the Festival, there will be an exhibition of artefacts, cultural practices and documents etc. Apart from folk-films there will be seminars, open forum, folklore art, folk performances, ethnic food festivals, interaction with directors, workshop on folk film production etc. The Festival is envisaged as a unique opportunity to experience cinematic representations in folk life, to interact with folk actors, filmmakers, and children’s workshop.
